Shopify CRO Audit

A conversion audit of your Shopify or e-commerce store by Jaseel M: where visitors drop out, why, and what to change first — written so a developer can act on it.

In brief

A Shopify CRO audit finds where your store loses people who were ready to buy. Mine starts by checking the analytics are accurate, then follows the funnel — landing, product page, cart, checkout — using GA4 funnels, session recordings and a page-by-page review on mobile, and ends with a ranked list of fixes with the evidence behind each one. It suits stores with steady traffic whose conversion rate or average order value has stalled.

Where Shopify stores usually lose buyers

Stage Typical leaks
Landing Ad promises something the page does not show; slow first load on mobile; pop-ups before the product
Product page Price, delivery date and returns not visible without scrolling; weak images; size or variant confusion; reviews hidden
Cart Surprise shipping cost; upsell clutter; no reassurance near the checkout button
Checkout Forced account creation; missing local payment methods; discount-code field sending people off to search for codes
After purchase No confirmation clarity, no post-purchase offer, no review request

How the audit works

  1. Check the measurement. If GA4 under-reports purchases by 20%, every conversion rate in the audit is wrong. Tracking is verified first — see why GA4 and Shopify report different revenue.
  2. Funnel analysis. Sessions to product view, add to cart, checkout and purchase, by device and traffic source. The biggest drop on mobile paid traffic is usually where the money is.
  3. Behaviour. Session recordings and heatmaps (Microsoft Clarity is free and good enough) to see what people actually do on key pages.
  4. Page review. Every template — home, collection, product, cart, checkout — on a real phone, against a checklist built from repeated findings across stores.
  5. Customer questions. What arrives by email, chat and WhatsApp before people buy is the most underused CRO data most stores have.
  6. Prioritised report. Each finding with evidence, expected impact, effort, and whether it should be tested or simply fixed.

Fix or test?

Not every change needs an A/B test. Broken things — a hidden delivery date, a confusing size selector, a slow page — should simply be fixed. Testing is for genuine uncertainty, and only works with enough traffic. If your store has modest traffic, read A/B testing with low traffic before buying a testing tool.

Getting traffic but no sales?

If sessions are healthy and orders are not, the problem is rarely one thing. Shopify store getting traffic but no sales walks through the order I check things in, starting with whether the traffic was ever likely to buy.

UK, India and GCC stores

I audit Shopify and Shopify Plus stores selling in the UK, India, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. What changes between markets is payment methods, delivery expectations, trust signals and, in India and the Gulf, how much buying happens on WhatsApp before checkout.

How much does a Shopify CRO audit cost?

A fixed fee agreed after a short call, depending on the size of the store and how many templates and markets are involved.

How long does a CRO audit take?

Usually two weeks, including enough days of session recordings to see patterns.

Frequently asked questions

Do you need access to my Shopify admin?

Staff access with analytics and theme read permissions, plus GA4 read access. Nothing is changed without agreement.

Will you implement the changes?

I work with your developer or Shopify agency, or recommend one. The audit is written so changes can be made without me.

Do you audit WooCommerce and Magento stores too?

Yes. The method is the same; see WooCommerce marketing for platform specifics.
